Edmonton Oilers now have Dresden flavour in front office

Jeff Jackson has been hired as CEO of hockey operations by the Edmonton Oilers.

The Dresden native played eight seasons in the NHL before turning his attention to law school.

He was the assistant general manager with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2006-10 and most recently worked

for the agency that represents Edmonton superstar Connor McDavid.

He played with his hometown Jr. Kings as a 15-year-old before embarking on a junior career in Brantford and

Hamilton.

Jackson was a second-round pick by the Maple Leafs in the ’83 NHL draft.

In a prepared statement, Jackson says he’s appreciative of the opportunity.

“I can’t think of a more exciting franchise to join or a better opportunity for me to put into practice everything I have learned during the past three decades in and around the NHL,” said Jackson.

“Daryl Katz, Ken Holland, Bob Nicholson, Jay Woodcroft and the entire group have built an outstanding foundation for success.

“I’m privileged to join Daryl, Ken and the entire Oilers staff in the pursuit of a Stanley Cup championship in the short term and in realizing the full and exceptional potential of the entire organization in the long term.”
