Bothwell residents will be able to pick up their mail again starting Thursday.

Canada Post, in a statement to The Herald, says the operations team “quickly adjusted our postal operations to continue to serve the residents of the community.”

A fire in Bothwell’s downtown destroyed the post office, The Bothwell Diner and the former Mrs. A’s General Store. Community members were worried about how they would continue to get mail in the aftermath of the fire.

Canada Post Spokesperson Lucy Lui says the temporary location will be at the Community Room of Bothwell Town Hall. It will operate Monday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm.

“Customers can pick up carded items at this location by providing a valid government-issued photo identification. Mail will be available for customers who had PO boxes at the Bothwell Post Office, with valid government-issued photo identification.

“Unfortunately, retail services will be unavailable at this temporary location.”

Lui says customers can find those services at their nearest post office in Thamesville or Wardsville.
