An 86-year old Thamesville man has died after being struck by a car.

Chatham-Kent Police were called to Longwoods Road west of Thamesville just before midnight Wednesday between Dew Drop and Huff Side Road for a single vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

The 86-year old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 20-year old woman from Thamesville, was not physically injured.

Police said due to the severity of the collision, the Traffic Management Unit was called to handle the investigation. Longwoods Road was closed overnight but has reopened.

The investigation is continuing and Chatham-Kent Police ask anyone with information about “this tragic incident” to call the investigating officer at 519-355-1092.
