It was a sweltering weekend, but that didn’t keep collectors and old car fans from making the annual trek to Bothwell for the Bothwell OptiFest Car Show Aug. 8 and 9. Over 1,000 cars came from across Ontario for the annual event.

Visitors found some relief from the heat among Victoria Park’s old trees.

Roger Schoonjans of Ridgetown was happy to chat about his classic car in in the shade, as volunteers directed cars into the oval for viewing.

Each car had nice details and some of the car owners were unique as well with James Eduards of London bringing his Blue and Gold Macaw along for the ride.

And one lucky person went home a lot richer. Sue Vanderheide won the Bothwell/Thamesville Fireman’s Association 50/50 raffle, which is always a highlight of this event. This year, Vanderheide took home $33,000. The firemens’ association will use their half to support community causes.
