The Herald was established in 1886 and has served the community of Thamesville continuously since then.

In 2016, Heather Wright purchased the newspaper and expanded coverage to Dresden, Bothwell and the Delaware First Nation.

In 2022, The Herald became a monthly newspaper.

The Herald is a member of the Ontario Community Newspaper Association.

The Herald’s offices are at 3 London Road, Thamesville.
